The workshop

A small workshop on Melton Business Park, doing the everyday servicing and the metalwork other garages turn away — with the same pair of hands on both.

Most of what comes through the door is ordinary: a service, a clutch, a cambelt, something that has picked up an advisory. What we are known for is the work underneath — sills, jacking points, floorpans and chassis legs on cars that have been written off as too far gone.

We restore classics here, so the welder, the equipment and the patience for proper metalwork are already in the building. That is why a car booked in for a service gets looked over underneath while it is up, and why you get told about corrosion early, while it is still a small job rather than a big one.

How a job runs

1. Ring the workshop or send the details over. Tell us what the car is doing, or what the MOT sheet says.
2. Bring it in. We put it up, look at it properly and tell you what it actually needs — which is sometimes less than you were expecting.
3. You get a price before anything is started.
4. If we open it up and it needs more than we quoted, the car goes down and you get a phone call. Nothing gets added to a bill without you knowing first.
